Have a safe last day. May all your hard work pay off and seeds be planted in those you talk too.

Josh – it made us laugh to see the pix of you in front of a computer , so typical.

    Cleaned your room today. πŸ™‚

    See you soon!

  3. Hey Chicago Team! I hope things are going well for you and you’ve grown closer to each other and the Lord. I also hope you’ve been able to get to know some of the neighbors and to share your faith.
Say Hi! to Scott & Natalie & Rob & Susan for us.

Renee: Keep up the good work!! Love ya, & see you tomorrow night.

  4. Hey Chi-Team,

  7. Glad to hear crafts are doing well. We’ve been praying for you constantly. Your bed will be clean and fresh when you get home. Josh ate cabbage! Hope Gramma reads that!

Yesturday Clarissa and I had our nails done, but it’s amazing how God works. The person doing our nails grew up at Bloomingdale Church, but moved away. We had a wonderful opportunity to talk with her and hopefully will see her back at Bloomingdale Church. You just never know how the Lord is going to use even simple things to his Glory! Remember that in all that you are doing this week.

Be safe as you walk barefoot. We can’t wait to hear all about it.

Max (the dog next door) was looking for you last night. He came to the fence with sad eyes and was whining. I think he misses you too, or he misses the treats you give him.

    Josh – Angus called.

    Love to you all!

    • WOW…. c u tomarow! night! you should see if someone special wants to come to

  8. Heyy all! Goodmorning! I slept pretty good last night but didn’t get to bed til late because all of us girls heard a door open and thought there was burglar. We woke everyone up and made Matt and Christine check every room. Lexie was standing at the door with a chair. We discovered the door we heard open was just Josh getting up to get a tissue for his scab!!! Well Dad, Mom, Carly, and Nick idk if you are gonna read this, but just wanted to say I miss you guys and the dogs! But I’m having a great time learning, working with kids, trying ethnic foods, and getting to know all of the amazing people on my team. =)

    • Great to hear from you Honey, we miss you and think about you often through out the day. Carly was just commenting on how she wishes you were here so she could pick on you. We will continue to pray for you and the team and know that God will use you guys to have a great impact for the Kingdom. We can’t wait to hear all the great stories on how God used you and grew you. Please continue to blog when you can because we look forward to hearing from you.

      Love you,
      Mom, Dad, Carly, & Nick

  9. Hello Chicago team.
Pastor David and I used to work in NYC on a Gospel team. The old song we used to sing on the way down was “Lonely people crying in the city, Lonely people do I see, Lonely people crying out to Thee.”
So many people- so much action yet people, children, who are lonely and need a special touch from you as you point them to the One that will fill their loneliness.

We prayed these verses for you and mention you all by name- twice a day.
    2 Tim. 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

    2 Tim. 2:1-3
You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. [2] And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. [3] Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

We will not be able to write for a bit but please be assured of our prayers and our love.
Can’t wait to hear your stories.

    Pastor David and Marina

  10. You are all doing such a wonderful job. We are all so very proud of each and every one of you. Keep up the good work. It is amazing that here in our own backyard we have so many people a lone and on the streets. If you are able to make even one person smile you have done more than most. Our prays are with you daily. Thank you Lord for giving these teens the strenghth and faithfulness to help to spread the word of salvation.

  11. Howdy everyone!!

    Jenny Jenny Hauser

PS. Lexie (Alex) everyone says “We Love you and are very Proud of you!”

  12. hiya., today is tuseday and we’re gettin ready to have breakfast so far we have passed out flyers for the vbs thats being held the next week, my group headed to the beach and passed em out. It was a no swim day so there werent a lot of people out, and the ones who were didn’t speak English ( i found this pretty ironic) but there were some that seemed interested on our walk home. Earlier that day we did a workshop type thing on the Holy spirit in Acts. We walked around the neighborhood to see things about the community that stuck out to us. By the time we got back and put together a list of a bunch of things; buses, laundry mats, ethnic food places, diversity amoung people, cars and houses etc. But the one thing that everyone missed was that there were lost people all around us. It was really interesting how everyone just seemed to forget of the people that we were there to serve. This got us in the right mindset for day camp. We had around 17 kids with the majority being k-3, and I think Mrs. Marina would be proud of us because almost every kid was super into it. And there are the CUTEST kids there! Im so exited to start off our day and start up another vbs tonight. Also, mom, I told everyone our our mutual dislike of the good mourning song, so guess what was BLASTING this mourning? That good mourning song., merp., I miss your sarcastic comments that go along with it as we change the channel. I love you! Tell Dad and Bella that I love em too. OH, and my dogs. Well, other people want to blog, so imma sign out, byeee!

    • Mrs. Marina is very proud of you. Getting kids excited for Jesus is the best. Will be praying for your VBS every day.

      Love you
      Mrs. Marina

  13. Hi everyone! We are having such a fun time here and learning so many new things!
Parents: Don’t worry there aren’t any bugs here so we are good and we do have a shower, i still feel bad for Marie!
I am excited for this upcoming week!
By the way, Collette and I had a wonderful time this morning, washing air in a sink works with someone to help you! I love the neighborhood and everything we get to do!

    • Good Morning to Everyone! So glad to hear that your experience is starting off with a bang! and especially glad to hear that there are NO bugs! Yea, Renee!!! May the Lord hold you and keep you this day and make His face shine upon you so that you, in turn, can show His face to others. We love you all and are very proud of the great work you will do in Rogers Park/Chicago!

      Love, Mom

  14. Good morning! I hope and pray you are all having a wonderful experiance and that God is revealing himself to you and through you to the people you encounter today! I pray that your friendships blossom and grow as you serve together and you make lifelong memories. Arianna – we’re missing you and thinking about you all day. The dogs miss you too….especially Cassy. She’s a little confussed and keeps looking for you! I took her to the park for a training walk yesterday and she did GREAT – the best yet! You’d have been very proud. Enjoy your day πŸ™‚

    • I miss you guys too! And my dogs…, especially Cassy. I had a little bit of a hard time sleeping without her. There are so many little dogs here its disheartening, but yesterday I saw 2 pitt bulls and a lab. So that made my day. Im really exited for Vbs tonight because im in chanrge of story and yesterday it went SO well. I cant wait to see you on Friday. Do you think you could get Dad or Bell to blog too? Love you. -me

  15. Hi Chicago Team! We’re praying that you will enjoy this experience and be able to serve the people you meet in the way that God has prepared you. You each bring different gifts to His work, and can grow so much through these new experiences. We continue to pray for your safety and your ability to serve. May the Lord bless your time with the FEC and the Spirit lead you with the people you meet in the neighborhood.

  16. Praying for you guys as you start your night. Hope you have a great time with the kids. Hope the crafts and skits and music go well. Let Jesus’ light shine from you and His love will be contageous to all those you talk to .

We are in awe of how you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and share with others.

    • Well said!, We are all proud of you guys. You are all in our prayers.

  20. Hey everyone! Hello from Family Empowerment Center Chicago. We arrived safely. We had an awesome barbeque with the staff and some volunteers, followed by a time of prayer thanking God for yesterdays Family Fest. We ended the night eating ice cream sundae’s. We are getting settled in, and geared up for Day (night) Camp and everything else. Every night, we are going to have storytime with the Massie’s, and share short stories pertinent to our time here.
Please pray for our week ahead as we interact with many people from diverse backgrounds. Pray that our assumptions would be silenced, and that we would be open to God forming us. Peace!

  21. Amy, Matt, Christine, Aaron, and I got to be a part of the Family Empowerment Center Family Fest today. We think there was 1000 people. Very cool.

Can’t wait for your team to start the trip tomorrow!
