Summer 08 Youth Group Experience

Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn,for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Goals

+learn the beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-10)

+be the beatitudes (offsite connection)

+become the beatitudes (discover ways to live out social justice)

Sunday nights

+small group will be the same all summer

+small groups will choose one activity that will help them be the beatitudes.. They will do this activity offsite every third Sunday during youth group (five total)
Ex: make a connection with an elderly person (shut-in) and visit with them

+on the other Sundays, we will be gathering for small group discussion on Beatitudes, worship, games, and testimonies

The Beatitudes call us to change how we live. Are they messing you up? Recently I (Daniel) was in Florida and was listening to a song that has helped me adjust to changes in my life. Since I was walking the beach and the song talks about “a wave crashing over me” I thought it made sense to add videos of waves with the music.
