ONMISSION TRIPS

Helping students discover local and global needs on a week long service-learning trip. As we partner with local and international workers, our short term work is done with the hopes that long term change will happen someday. onMission trips help enrich our personal understanding of God’s mission of making disciples as the task we pursue wherever we are.

HOW WE CHOOSE WHERE TO SERVE

We are prayerful and strategic on where we serve and who we partner with on our onMission trips:

  • We partner with ministries that serve in that same community (the other 51 weeks of the year.)
  • We consider the age-appropriateness of the ministry; balancing being effective while also finding ministry that is challenging.
  • We believe that students can (and should) learn about ministry locally, regionally, and internationally. (Acts 1:8 …and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem (Bloomingdale), and in all Judea (DuPage/) and Samaria (Chicago/U.S.), and to the ends of the earth.”)
  • We are drawn to “God’s mission”, more than “our own adventure.”

Why “Envision” High School Trips?

  • “Envision” is not just a trip, but a culture that exists to “mobilize the next generation for kingdom change”:
  • Envision Trip attendees will connect with CMA (our denomination) missionaries.
  • After a trip, student can keep in contact to pray for and support them. We hope students will also be encouraged by them as they pursue God’s mission for their own life.
  • Envision Trips provide opportunities to go back during/after high school: 1) Return to serve as a high school student. [You don’t need the Youth Group to do this!] 2) After graduation, you could be an “intern” at the Envision site.  3) If one felt called to be a missionary, they may even end up living on this field!
