When you think about the Youth Group, what image or thought comes to mind? My guess is if you are a student, it is the friends you have made, probably a retreat you went on, and the Youth Leader your really like talking to. If you are a parent, it may be the desire you have for your student to find a place where they feel comfortable and cared about. Our hope is that when you think about the Youth Group, you remember these four things…
Safe & Welcoming
As a community of people who live in a world that does not always seem safe, we want to create an atmosphere of acceptance. Our goal is to make sure that every student feels like we are glad that they are here. We cheer on our students to contribute to this welcoming environment too.
Everyone deserves to have a good friend, one that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). We want students to develop deep friendships with other students.
We think everyone benefits from having wise, caring people in their life. Who wouldn’t want someone whose goal is to just listen to them and be available? Therefore, we will keep promoting a “mentoring culture.”
It’s all about Jesus! That’s right. We welcome people and promote friendship and mentorship, because that is what Jesus did. In everything we do, we want to be pointing people to a life-giving relationship with Jesus.
