In God’s Story, written in the best selling story book of all time-the Bible, we discover that God created Adam and Eve to live in a perfect place. Since there was no evil, they lived an incredible story. They were selfless. They were ambitious (they named all the animals). Yet, they chose another story, one filled with pain and remorse, one of disobedience. This changed every human’s story since.
God the Creator loved the people He created. Yet because they chose to disobey His law, they were stripped of their privilege to be in His presence.
The Creator could not allow the people to be in His presence because He was so perfect and they were not. Yet He cared so much for the people that He was willing to do anything to get them back.
There was only one solution. The Creator’s Son, who was perfect just like the Creator must take on the sin of the people upon himself. If He did this, then the people would be able to be in relationship with the Creator again.
What an incredible story this was setting up to be. You have the Creator’s Son, his name is Jesus. He determines that the only way to save the people would be to lower himself and become a person. The Bible says “And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross!” (Phil 2:8)
Jesus came to earth with an incredible ambition. He came to give His life up so that the people could again be in relationship with God. Jesus died a horrible death, allowing himself to be blamed for accusations that were not true. He did this because he knew he must die so that the people could live. Jesus lived out the best redemptive story of all time. Because Jesus lived this story, we can now again be in relationship with the Father. Jesus has provided the way. The Bible says, “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Rom 10:9-10.
What an incredible story. A story that could be your story.
