A Cool Story
One of the cool things about Friday Night Coffeehouse is that you meet students that return after awhile and you can reconnect through conversations, games, or over some food. This week, Jordan J, was back and hanging out again with us. He’s the type of student that enjoys meaningful connection with other students, volunteers and staff. “Can I have a shirt?!” He asked. “Of course, bro, welcome back!” Was the response. Then there was time to speak a bit and it was great! That is part of what makes what Coffeehouse both rewarding and fun. The fact that we have time to build relationship and spend time together. It is all the more fulfilling when a student returns whose been gone awhile, or is a first-timer. If it’s been some time since you have been with us on a Friday Night Coffeehouse, what are you waiting for? Join us!

What’s it like to be a table leader?
Table groups is one of the secret ingredients to a successful Youth Alpha experience. In each 15 minute film, there are three questions built-in which encourage students to share their questions, beliefs, and opinions. Table leaders and helpers are responsible for facilitating the conversation. Table leaders make sure everyone’s voice is heard, and that those who share their thoughts are affirmed for contributing to the conversation. Table discussions are less about teaching as it is about allowing students to wrestle with topics and form their own opinion throughout the course.
