The Youth Basketball Clinic is a great way to improve on and learn new basketball skills, as well as learn how to follow Jesus on and off the basketball court. When it comes to learning the game of basketball and improving at the clinic, Joel G (who attends the clinic) said, “The drills really help and make me a better basketball player.”
The Youth Basketball Clinic was originally started by Coach Lou P back in the 1990’s. Currently Matt Murray leads the youth basketball clinic. He played varsity basketball at Glenbard North back in 2002 when they made it downstate to the elite eight for the school’s only appearance in its program’s history. Matt previously coached high school basketball in Chicago and in Marion, Indiana at a Boys and Girls Club.
Here at the Youth Basketball Clinic, the gym is our sanctuary. Faith in Jesus Christ is preached and lived out on the basketball court.
The Youth Basketball Clinic is for teen guys, grades 7th-12th. It consists of a light breakfast, conditioning drills, offensive and defensive basketball drills, a short Bible devotional, and full court scrimmaging.
The clinics are on the third Saturdays of every month (except May) from 9am to noon in Bloomingdale Church’s gymnasium. The next dates are April 18, May 9, June 20, and July 18.
